It Is Friday, Right?

Because it kinda feels like a fuck you Monday. I opened my eyes to a migraine.

Shortly followed by the groan of the to-do list going through my mind.

Only stopped by the call of hungry kids. No milk or bread, lost debit card and no cash= a trip to the bank.

Turn on the tv as we slowly make ourselves presentable and see a massive storm headed right for us.

This speeds up the process considerably. When attempting to wash my hands ((already covered in soap)), I realize the water is off. WTF!

Sure enough on the door hung a tiny slip of paper stating that the water had been turned off for nonpayment. Huh?! I mean ok, must be true but how did that happen?

Add that to the near-top of my list. After the bank and storm. We rush out the door.

3 miles South on Yale and a right turn..... to see this....

.... coming from the West. We nervously waited for the teller to do her thing. I made it breezy by discussing the clouds w/ the boys. They were so low and moving fast.

We had barely pulled out from under the drive-thru when the first drops of rain fell and the wind picked up.

I must say, it was the scariest time driving home in that storm. All I could think was "just let me get the boys home safely". Not a prayer really but more of a self-pep talk.

I couldn't see past the end of my car and hit many spots of water where I was sure my car would be flooded and stall.

Leaving us stranded and inevitably hit by Joe or Sue Schmo that also could not see beyond the nose of their vehicle.

Not fun.

But.... we made it safely albeit shaken up. Then we sat for the hour it took for the storm to finish its business w/ Tulsa.

I am always amused watching the weatherman discuss Oklahoma storms w/ the level of excitement one would expect from sex.

All in all the day ended well. The water oversight was paid and the water is back on. The daily to do list done and the migraine and neck pain finally tackled by kind Mr. Darvocet.

And now, I am DONE w/ this Friday.

((Special Thanks to Nikki for toasting me at her get together miles away. "To Monique; Fuck You Friday!!!" LOL))

I did toast you! Wish you could have been there to share a margarita or two with us. ♥

Heh... You wouldn't like it here during the fall then. We get storms that last days. I'm talking pouring down rain and 80 mph winds (sometimes 100 mph).

Monique said...

Nikki- Someday friend I will make my way ((way way)) up North to see you all.

Marf- You might be right. I LOVE storms though. I just don't like to be driving in them. And the fear of tornadoes that have a way of popping up around here, makes it a little sketchy too.

Marf said...

Well, tornadoes are not even a possibility here.

The most likely natural disasters here are probably landslides and earthquakes.

Monique said...

Marf- Which would you pick? I duhno, tornadoes, mudslides or earthquakes. Is there one worse than the other?

Marf said...

I would pick mud/rockslides, but there's not very many places you could go with enough flat ground in this town. You're pretty much always in a potential slide zone.

An earthquake could trigger slides... Even a small earthquake that by itself wouldn't damage a house.

There's also the possible tsunami, although we're fairly protected by the islands around us. Again, an earthquake could trigger a tsunami, even a distant earthquake.

Ultimately, I'd say an earthquake is the worst one. Simply because it can trigger other things.

Marf- How very logical of you... L

I would say none of the above, they all involve shit falling on you as a result of them. But we know how rational that response is, huh?

Marf said...

Meh, that's just how I am.

Monique said...

Marf- Question. This "Meh", how would that be said phonetically? I've assumed and wondered for awhile now, but why not just ask....

Marf said...

Meh starts with the M sound then has a short e sound (like bed and net) and ends with an H sound.

Monique said...

Marf- Not an acceptable answer. Record yourself saying it and send it to me.

Marf said...

Meh, I'd rather not.

Monique said...

Listen to the message I sent you, over and over again until you agree. L

Marf said...

I've listened to it once. A bit demanding, aren't we?

Ya think?
