Where I've Been, What I Saw and What I Know....

Wow, that sounded like a good title until I typed it out and then felt a great pressure to actually say something. Hmmm. Ok.

Isn't that similar to a phrase the old timers use? "What'da'ya say, What'da'ya know". Maybe just the old timers I know say that.

To follow-up a past thought that was never fully realized. WalMart, before Christmas is a massive clusterfuck. Months ago when discussing Christmas, Big B was adamant that a Nintendo DS would make his season bright.

When I started shopping, it was first on the list. That and a Screamin' Banshee for Little B, ((which to this day he will argue you into a migraine that it is pronounced Screamin' Banjo)).

I thought I would try out the Site to Store shipping option for WalMart. Now, other stores may have this method down and it works very smoothly, for me and my closest store - it did not. I won't bore you w/ those details, I have many more boring details to throw at you.......

It wasn't fun, any of the 6 times I did it. Yeah I know, why after the 1st. But I couldn't resist saving the shipping and they truly did have the best prices on the items I bought.

So I continued gathering Christmas and storing it in huge brown boxes in my closet, sealed and sealed again. No peeking. All is well and I am nearing the end of my shopping as we crossed into December. ((Yea Me!!))

THEN, the price of WII's seemingly dropped overnight and everywhere we went people had one.

I began thinking to myself, hmmm I have x amount invested in the DS and that would buy the WII and a game or two. Much better way to go.

Once the thought was there, it would not go away. I mean it WOULD NOT go away. I finally decided that I had to brave Customer Service and the mile long line to return the DS and buy the WII.

Then that took a few days to sink in. I hate Hate HATE standing in line. I seem to always get stuck listening to people who either have no care or concern for the fact that they are in public and can be heard. Who rant and rave and cuss, driving me bonkers wanting to scream at them to shut the hell up.................... Or.......................

I have the person who wants to be best friend's w/ complete strangers and tries to learn my life story in the 2-20 minutes I'm stuck w/ them..................... Or...................

There is always the cute baby trap. You see a cute baby, acknowledge cute baby, cute baby acknowledges you, getting the parents attention, who then looks from you to the baby as if giving silent commentary on the exchange.

There is just no polite way to end this.

Once you get sucked in, you can't just ignore cute baby, nor can I not enter into this w/ cute baby. I mean this is a cute baby.

I have had 2 cute babies and know what joy a cute baby exchange can bring. Doing so before realizing that I am stuck in this until the line moves, the parent repositions cute baby or I die from exhaustion in the waiting or from smiling at cute baby.

But the day came that I finally mustered the courage to face the challenge ahead of me.

I walked in and smiled politely as the 115 year old greeter fumbled to scan the items and print the return stickers for them. I made my way to Customer Service and saw noone in line - *hysterical silent laughter* noone was in line. No ranting lunatics, no cute babies, no stalker wanna-be's.... Could it be that I was going to make it through here --- dare I say, easily???

Then the ghost'ish whisper of my own mind came to me.

No...................... this is Christmas-time in a WalMart Superstore, there is no easily.

The different items had come from several orders and in my mess of papers I had misplaced the one for the actual DS. It took a few people to finally reach the conclusion that I could return it but had to buy something from w/in the electronics department. 3 times I heard this and each time remained understanding and nice in saying, great, I want a WII.

Then after the lady w/ all of 3 teeth in her head finally gave the ok, giving finality to this process, we learn from a call to the electronics department that they didn't have a WII. "Would you mind terribly to check other stores." I think she did mind, but she did it anyway which I appreciated. No WalMarts in all of Tulsa, or the surrounding areas had a WII.

WTF now.

A few calls and some people hitting the net for me while I aimlessly roam the electronics department, found a WII on Amazon that would have it at the house in 3 days for 11 bucks extra.... SOLD.

I then proceeded to spend an all out fortune on WII accessories and games, using up the "credit" I had worked so hard to gain from what is now known in my mind as "the DS crap".

It took several more trips to the Customer Service department before I was finally done and out of there. 2 trips involved a long line of people which I was told to skip to the front of, knowing how lovingly I was thought of by the others when I did.

But, in the end. There is now a WII in the house and it is amazingly fun. Just be careful so you don't end up looking like one of them...

Aren't you just damn glad you know all of that now. LOL

How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer...

Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?

Anti-Christmas Carol

Twisted and weird..... my kinda humor.

The elves are dressed in leather
And the angels are in chains
(Christmas with the Devil)
The sugar plums are rancid
And the stockings are in flames
(Christmas with the Devil)
There's a demon in my belly
And a gremlin in my brain
There's someone up the chimney hole
And Satan is his name
The rats ate all the presents
And the reindeer ran away
(Christmas with the Devil)
There'll be no Father Christmas
'Cause it's Evils holiday
(Christmas with the Devil)
No bells in Hell
No snow below-
Silent Night, Violent Night
So come all ye unfaithful
Don't be left out in the cold
You don't need no invitation, no...
Your ticket is your soul
